Spring/Summer Shoe Guide

Summer is the season of being outdoors! Kids of all ages love to run and play whether they are at camp, in their own backyard, at the beach or jumping in rain puddles! Weather can be unpredictable in the summer too, so it’s important to protect their little feet from the elements. As a parent, you want to make sure they have the right shoes, from sneakers to water shoes to rain boots.

When choosing a shoe anytime, there are a few important tips to remember. The sole of the shoe should be flexible. If possible, get your toddler sized in-store to make sure the shoe fits just right. The shoe should fit snugly while still allowing room for the toes to wiggle and spread. Choosing a shoe with velcro can help get just the right fit and prevent your child’s foot from sliding around inside the shoe. Also, try to buy new as second hand shoes often form to the previous owner's foot. And remember…barefoot is best, so if the concrete isn’t hot and the sand isn’t rocky, let them kick off the shoes and enjoy fun in the sun!

Finally, we all know how FAST baby and toddler feet grow, so make sure to check the fit of your child’s shoe frequently. Also, it can be costly to keep up with growing toddlers, but there are ‘good’ shoes at all price points.
