A Full Body Experience…

Feeding is a full body experience, especially for infants.

This time is meant to be a bonding experience for baby and parent. Whether breastfeeding or bottle, the last thing you want for your baby is for their feeding to be a struggle that leads to you both feeling frustrated.

If you’re struggling with breast or bottle feeding and you haven’t seen a therapist who can assess the entire body for strain/tension/tightness/weakness/muscle tone/reflexes etc. then you might be missing a big piece of the puzzle! We work in collaboration with the rest of your support team to optimize feeding from all angles.

If your baby consistently struggles to feed on one side more than the other, or prefers to always look in one direction, this could be a sign that they have some tight muscles preventing them from looking or feeding on the other side. Also often babies who have tension will feel very stiff, arch a lot and pull away from the breast or bottle. All of these difficulties should be addressed in a holistic way, taking a full body approach.
